What Is Appointment Community Prep For Children?

This unique program is designed for children ages 3–11 who experience anxiety, fear, or sensory sensitivity when visiting public places such as clinics, stores, or social environments. Whether a child is navigating medical trauma, neurodivergence, grief, or simply needs help building social confidence, Appointment Community Prep offers a private, supportive approach.

Each session runs 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the location and the needs of the child, with a maximum of 2 children per session. Parents are encouraged to attend and participate in the prep journey.

How It Works

We organize personalized visits and walk-throughs of local spaces to reduce unfamiliarity and gently expose children to new environments. These tours are structured to help children feel safe, supported, and empowered before future appointments or events.

Locations We Visit

Our community exposure visits may include:

  • Dentist & Optometrist Offices – Easing fears about exams, tools, and staff interaction.
  • Grocery & Department Stores – Teaching navigation, decision-making, patience, and noise tolerance.
  • Funeral Homes & Cemeteries – Providing compassionate introductions to spaces often tied to grief or trauma.
  • Parks & Social Spaces – Building confidence in making friends, taking turns, and understanding consent in play.
  • Hospitals & Labor and Delivery Wings – Helping prepare for family visits or future appointments with less overwhelm.

We meet each child where they are — emotionally, developmentally, and socially — to help them feel empowered in everyday life.
